We moved from VA in 2010; we had deep family ties to Maine and have been spending summer vacation here for many years.
I taught school before going to medical school in Virginia and did residency in OB/GYN with a subspecialty in pediatric and adolescence. In that capacity, I directed our teen pregnancy clinic and coordinated a multi specialty clinic which treated adolescents with gynecological issues as well as other complex medical and social problems. The other issues included cancer, developmental delay, autism spectrum disorders, kidney diseases, cardiac and pulmonary disease, etc. So quite a bit of time was spent coordinating not only their medical care but working with their psychologists, social workers and other care providers. Our goal for all of our adolescent programs was to treat their medical condition in the context of their bigger social setting.
I am an outdoor enthusiast from a close knit family of 8 brothers and sisters. My husband and I have four grown children and six grandchildren, two who have attended Hearty Roots summer and winter programs and will be attending it this summer!
