Many young people who would benefit most from time outdoors and supportive mentorship face financial barriers that make programs like Hearty Roots difficult to access. Community support helps ensure that every child—regardless of family income—has the opportunity to participate in meaningful outdoor experiences, build confidence, form lasting friendships, and connect with caring adult mentors. Contributions from donors allow us to welcome more youth into our programs, remove financial obstacles for families, and keep our focus where it belongs: helping young people grow into resilient, connected, and capable members of their community. Hearty Roots is a scrappy, nimble organization that responds quickly to the real needs of young people and families in our community. We operate debt-free and stretch every dollar to reach as many youth as possible through our unique model—meeting kids where they are in schools, welcoming them onto our campus grounds, and staying connected in their lives over the span of years. Today, that approach allows us to serve more than 1,000 youth each year across Lincoln County. Flexible support helps us keep growing, strengthen our programs, and continue showing up for young people with the mentorship, adventure, and belonging they need to thrive.
Campus Development
Help us build essential infrastructure on our Bremen property so we can host kids in all seasons of outdoor fun.
Our Campus for Mindful Adventure is the programming home base of Hearty Roots—a place where young people gather year-round to explore the outdoors, build confidence, and connect with mentors and peers in a setting that encourages reflection, curiosity, and growth. Gifts to support the campus help us care for and improve the land so it can continue to serve as a welcoming home for our programs. In 2026, our top priorities include installing a hand pump for reliable water access, constructing a gear and maintenance barn to safely store and maintain the equipment that makes our outdoor programs possible, and building a UA cabin that will provide a warm, sheltered space for gatherings, learning, and year-round programming. These improvements will strengthen the foundation of our work and ensure that this special place continues to support meaningful experiences for youth for years to come.
