DEBI ROGERS
Taproot Therapeutic Mentor
Debi has felt a kinship with nature ever since she was a child, having spent countless hours in the woods and in the ocean. As an adult, nature has been a place that has felt like belonging and allowed for a deeper connection to self. Debi has been in the field of social work for over 15 years and became fully licensed in 2010. Previously, she worked at Maine College of Art & Design as their Coordinator of Counseling & Wellness and before that was a High School Social Worker and Middle School for eight years.
She wholeheartedly embraces a reciprocal relationship with nature and finds nature to be a very wise co-therapist. Debi believes that all therapeutic work is relational, that people are the experts of their own lived experience, and that therapy is a process that is co-created. Young people hold far more wisdom than they are given credit for and fostering play, awe, joy, and connection are ways that offer an unfolding and a learning that supports young people in becoming authentic & expressive humans. Outside of work, Debi is often listening to music, watching women’s basketball, or walking in the woods.
