Misha Barker
youth program manager
Misha is the Youth Program Manager at Hearty Roots and has been a part of Hearty Roots for eight years. Though originally from Boothbay, Misha spent much of her childhood and early adult years in New York City and Boston before finding her way back to Maine in 2015 after studying Education and Theatre at Salem State University.
Misha’s love for nature and the outdoors began as a summer camper herself, and that passion has only grown over the years. She’s deeply connected to the woods and waters of Maine and believes there’s no better place to help young people explore, grow, and discover who they are. Whether leading an art project, guiding a coastal expedition, or simply sharing a laugh with campers and students, her goal is always fostering a sense of belonging, adventure, and creativity in every activity.
Misha’s heart lies in building strong connections—between people, the natural world, and especially with ourselves. She believes that at Hearty Roots, every camper has the chance to feel seen, heard, and inspired. For Misha, the best part of her work is witnessing campers connect with themselves, their peers, and the vibrant outdoor wonderland that we are lucky to call home here in Maine.
