LUCY NELSON
CLINICAL INTERN FOR TAPROOT
Lucy (she/they) counts herself lucky to be a member of the Taproot Dream Team™ at Hearty Roots. She is currently a grad student at Smith College and is completing her final year internship at this unicorn of an organization. She says it to anyone who will listen: she’s pinching herself that an organization like Hearty Roots exists and that she gets to be here while completing her studies.
Lucy believes that nature is the greatest window back into ourselves, a doorway that leads us to our deepest and truest selves. As the magic of childhood intertwines with the growing pains of becoming a big human, she believes that nature, art, and play therapy can calibrate the compass. If our answers lie within, then therapeutic work is a matter of clearing away the noise to uncover our innermost knowings.
Lucy is at her most centered when exploring in the forest or at sea. When she isn’t playing in the woods or sledding with clients during sessions, you might find her experimenting in the kitchen, laughing with pals, playing with her niblings, reading poetry and fiction at the library, or writing by a wood stove. She dreams of living aboard a sailboat once she graduates.
